FLAME - Outreach to Families Living Around Middlesbrough & Eston

Here is a flavour of  the work.

Grove Hill Methodist Church , Eston Grange Methodist Church and Nunthorpe Methodist Church now put on regular messy church events.

Other activities include running four children's clubs in schools , holiday clubs,  a children's choir as well as taking school assemblies and RE lessons. Assisting the Chinese Community with their Christian assemblies for their Saturday Chinese Classes is another aspect of the outreach.

This school term it was great to welcome 70 Yr 2's from Whalehill to Eston Grange Methodist church to look at Easter. Also 49 Yr 4's to Grove Hill Methodist church. Caedmon Primary Yr4's came for a special Easter Service at Eston Grange.

The aim of the work is to help start new initiatives up but then once the project is up and running to step down so I can  look to getting another initiative going that a particular church has asked for my help with.  Also where appropriate I can come in and look at existing work to see how it might evolve further.

New initiatives include X:site Teesside run under the banner of Scripture Union.  This is  ecumenical working . It is worship and bible study event for 7-11 year olds that teaches children about the Christian faith in a fun way.  I am overall event leader.  Activities included craft, games, a puppet show and leaders getting gunged.  Seventy two children came to the first one in March.

A new Kidz Club opened in April 2012 at Eston Grange Methodist Church working in partnership with Grange town Community Church.

Initial meetings have taken place to discuss working ecumenically to open cafe church at the Community Cafe at Linthorpe Road Methodist Church & Resource Centre, possibly on Sunday evenings once a month 6-8pm. So watch this space.

I look forward to celebrating the present work that goes on with young families in the churches then seeing it steadily  blossom and grow.

Many thanks to all the volunteers to who work so hard to enable these activities to happen.
