Aldersgate Sunday Circuit Service

19TH 6:30pm Grove Hill Methodist Church

Dear Friends,
Many of you will remember the circuit service we had last year to celebrate this very special Sunday in the life of our Methodist church. This year we are going to have another celebration, but this time the Sunday is also Pentecost, this is wonderful as the two events are both about the power of the Holy Spirit changing people's lives and beginning amazing missions.

A small group from the Local Preachers meeting met to begin to plan for May 19th. We are; Rev Huw Sperring, Celia Shires, Ron Mapplebeck, Ruth Lewis and me (Ruth was not able to attend this initial meeting) We felt we wanted to share our plans with you now so you have time as a church to think about your contributions to the service. We do want this to be a Circuit event in every way. We are thinking of the Holy Spirit and the work of the Spirit on that special day. We are also thinking of the work of the Spirit in transforming the lives of John and Charles Wesley and the incredible journey it sent them on.

We would like; Everyone attending the service to wear something either, red, orange or yellow (the colour of the flames of Pentecost). To arrive by 6:15pm in order that we can have a group photograph to mark the occasion.
We would like each church to select a Wesley hymn.
We would like each church to tell us either; how they are 'fanning the flames' of the Holy Spirit, in outreach, or in renewal of faith, OR To tell us a 'good news story' The stories will have to be short and to the point because of the constraints of time, but they will be important to give us all a sense of the power of the Spirit working in our Circuit.
We will also ask each church for any special prayers for the service.
The service will also include the celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

We have and will continue to pray about this event, it may be that what we have planned may need to be changed. Please will you share this at your church. Please will you let me know any thoughts/comments about the service. We would appreciate your hymn choices and confirmation of your 'fanning the flames' or good news story, by MONDAY APRIL 15th at the very latest. We have our next meeting on Thursday April 18th when we hope to be in a position to put the order of service together.
If you are not going to be the contact for this service, please let me know who it will be along with their email address or phone number.
Thanks very much Best wishes

Dave Elliott.
