Circuit

The Methodist Church in Great Britain is made up of hundreds of church congregations, throughout the country. At national level the church refers to itself as the Methodist Connexion, emphasising the networked nature of the church. There are several administrative "districts" within the connexion, each of which comprises many "circuits".

The Middlesbrough & Eston circuit links 11 different congregations. These are ministered to by 5 Methodist Ministers and over 20 "Local Preachers". Services are also taken by Ministers and preachers from other denominations, particularly where churches have been united.

Local Preachers would be called lay preachers, or lay readers in other denominations. They are a trained and motivated group of men and women from all walks of life, who conduct services (though usually not Communion Services) throughout the Methodist Circuit.

The churches on the Middlesbrough & Eston Circuit range from inner city to suburban churches. These pages give brief details and pictures for each one (churches indicated by a red circle). The best way to appreciate each church is to visit, and you will be made most welcome.
